Jon Bernthal to star in Showtime's American Gigolo TV reboot

The Walking Dead alum will lead a Showtime pilot that's a “present-day reimagining” of Richard Gere's 1980 film, in which he played high-end male escort Julian Kaye. Showtime says that Bernthal's version of Julian will be “introduced 18 years after he’s been arrested for murder and struggling to find his footing in the modern-day Los Angeles sex industry, while seeking the truth about the set-up that sent him to prison all those years ago and also hoping to reconnect with Michelle, his one true love." Ray Donovan showrunner David Hollander will write American Gigolo and serve as showrunner. According to TVLine, playwright Neil LaBute was originally eyed to pen the pilot.
