Janelle Monáe to star as the iconic Josephine Baker in A24 limited series De La Resistance

The eight-time Grammy nominee and SAG winner will play the American-born French entertainer, French Resistance agent and civil rights activist. "The focus of the drama will be on Baker’s role as a spy for the Allies during the French resistance helping defeat the Nazis, and on her experience as one of the world’s most iconic, talented and glamorous entertainers," according to Deadline, which adds that De La Resistance will be shopped to streamers. See and Underground writer Jennifer Yale will serve as showrunner. This is the second Josephine Baker limited series in the works. Last year, Ruth Negga was announced as the star of the limited series Josephine from Dee Harris-Lawrence.
