James Gandolfini once threatened to "beat the f*ck" out of Harvey Weinstein over a David Letterman appearance

Gandolfini's Sopranos co-stars Steve Schirripa and Michael Imperioli, co-hosts of the Talking Sopranos podcast, discussed Gandolfini on The Joe Rogan Experience. Gandolfini avoided appearing as a guest on late-night shows. So when Weinstein pressed him to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote the 2012 film Killing Them Softly, Gandolfini turned him down. But Weinstein kept pressing him, Schirripa recalled. "He said, 'Harvey Weinstein keeps calling, he wants me to do Letterman and I said no,'" Schirripa said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "And he got f*cking nasty with Jim. And Jim said, 'I will beat the f*ck out of Harvey Weinstein! He f*cking calls me again, I will beat the fuck out of him! For the money he paid me, I'm not fucking doing it!' Swear to God. And this is before all the Harvey Weinstein sh*t when he was still king sh*t."
