Hulu to adapt Charles Yu's Interior Chinatown, a novel about an Asian-American actor struggling against clichéd roles and stereotypes

Yu is expected to write the TV adaptation of the critically acclaimed novel that he released in January. Interior Chinatown "follows the story of an Asian-American actor struggling against clichéd roles and stereotypes, both at work and in his personal life," per Variety. "It was published earlier this year by Pantheon Books, and has garnered Yu a place among the finalists for the National Book Award in the fiction category." Yu promoted his book on The Daily Show in February, discussing the lack of on-screen representation for actors of Asian descent.
