Former MTV and Comedy Central boss is starting a podcast on the glory days of cable TV

Doug Herzog, who spent nearly four decades at Viacom, is teaming with Vulture TV critic Jen Chaney and SiriusXM on the podcast Basic! According to Deadline, "the show will revisit cable’s low-budget, quirky beginnings all the way up to the Emmy Award-winning premium dramas of the modern era. Basic! will feature interviews with the stars and key players that helped make cable TV the most important utility in any American home." Guests include Jimmy Kimmel, Cindy Crawford, Amy Schumer, Fab Five Freddy, Neal Brennan and Tim Gunn.
