CBS is planning a "female-driven reboot" of The Honeymooners

Jackie Gleason's classic blue-collar CBS comedy, which aired for one season and 39 episodes from 1955 to 1956, is being reimagined with a "feminist twist" with the help of Damon Wayans Jr., according to Deadline. The Honeymooners reboot is described as "a bold, female-driven reboot of the iconic working-class comedy centered around new wife Ruth and her husband Alex who are determined to have a marriage where they are true equals in every way. But what happens when a marriage has two heads of the household? Are they co-heads? Or no head at all?" Black-ish and Mixed-ish executive producer Lindsey Shockley will write the reboot with Classic Comfort and Grace and Frankie sitcom director Kelly Park, while Wayans will serve as executive producer with Kameron Tarlow. As TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich points out, CBS had a Honeymooners reboot in the works in 2016. That version would've centered on “two couples who double as best friends and neighbors — only this time, one of the couples remarries after divorcing each other four years prior.”
