CBS' The Red Line will stay as a limited series and won't return for a second season

The eight-episode racial drama starring Noah Wyle from producers Ava DuVernay and Greg Berlanti aired over four weekends to soft ratings. While The Red Line was designed as a limited series, its creative team had begun exploring the potential of a second season. But co-showrunner Sunil Nayar tells The Hollywood Reporter that The Red Line "did not get picked up for a second season, so it will exist as an elegant novel."
