Bill Burr's new Netflix special is thoughtful, surprising, and introspective -- but the first four minutes are frustrating

Bill Burr: Paper Tiger begins looking like yet another comedy special responding to straw men like "cancel culture" and "safe spaces." But viewers sticking around past the first few minutes will be treated to something unique, says Kathryn VanArendonk. "It’s frustrating that Burr feels the need to start by roaring so aggressively, because anyone who showed up to see a tiger is actually getting something subtler and more carefully crafted," she says.
