Bernie Madoff, financier who was a notorious Ponzi schemer, dies at 82

Madoff, who died while serving a 150-prison sentence, was the mastermind of the biggest investment fraud in U.S. history, ripping off tens of thousands of people of as much as $65 billion. Madoff's Ponzi scheme led to two Oscar-winning actors portraying him on the small screen: Richard Dreyfuss in the 2016 ABC miniseries Madoff and Robert De Niro in the 2017 HBO TV movie The Wizard of Lies.
