ABC News' 20/20 is dropping a Theranos/Elizabeth Holmes documentary three days before HBO

20/20 announced it will air a two-hour documentary titled The Dropout on Holmes and her fraudulent billion-dollar blood testing company on Friday, three days before HBO airs its similar-themed Alex Gibney-directed film The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley. ABC's move is reminiscent of Hulu dropping a Fyre Festival documentary four days before Netflix's similar Fyre film. ABC News and 20/20 is releasing The Dropout as it rolls out a podcast on Holmes and Theranos under the same name.
