The Matrix, Hawkeye and Emily in Paris Headline a Blockbuster Day of TV

    Just in case there was any doubt that the big three streamers were in it to win it this holiday, today brings a trio of the season's biggest releases as The Matrix Resurrections premieres on HBO Max day-and-date with its theatrical release, Marvel’s Hawkeye wraps its six-episode run on Disney+, and Netflix hit Emily in Paris returns for Season 2.

    Also today, Always Sunny wraps its fifteenth season, The Masked Singer gets into the holiday spirit, and Lorne Michaels, Bette Midler, and Joni Mitchell get their due at the 44th annual Kennedy Center Honors. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Wednesday:

    The Matrix Resurrections: Original film. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprise their iconic roles as Neo and Trinity in the long-awaited fourth film, which sees Neo’s life take an unexpected turn when he finds himself back inside the Matrix. Watch trailer. Streaming on HBO Max

    Hawkeye: Series finale. Clint (Jeremy Renner) and Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) face an explosive final battle in the sixth episode of Marvel's Christmastime limited series. Streaming on Disney+

    Emily in Paris: Complete second season. After stumbling into a love triangle with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Camille (Camille Razat), Emily (Lily Collins) works to keep her secret under-wraps. Read our review. Streaming on Netflix

    It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season finale. Dee (Kaitlin Olson) prepares for a date with an Irish doctor, only to find herself sinking in a bog, and The Gang attempts to ascend a mountain in order for Charlie (Charlie Day) to fulfill a mysterious burial tradition in the final two episodes of Season 15 10:00 PM ET on FXX

    The Masked Singer Christmas Singalong: Holiday special. Fan favorite contestants celebrate the holidays in this two-hour special featuring unaired performances, bloopers, and behind-the-scenes footage. 8:00 PM ET on FOX

    44th Kennedy Center Honors: Special presentation. Host David Letterman honors Lorne Michaels, Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell, Motown singer Berry Gordy, and opera singer Justino Díaz in the Kennedy Center’s annual star-studded event, attended by the President of the United States for the first time since 2016.     Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Encore presentation. 99 year-old Norman Lear stole the show when he dropped an unexpected F-bomb during ABC's live reenactment of beloved sitcoms The Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokes starring Jennifer Aniston, Kathryn Hahn, John Lithgow, Kevin Hart, and Ann Dowd.
