News Anchor Swallows Fly on Live TV

TV's third insect-related mishap in as many weeks saw a Canadian news anchor accidentally gulp a house fly.
  • It all began on August 12th, when Ontario Premier Doug Ford swallowed a bee midway through a press conference. Since then, we've seen a local news reporter chased down the block by a different bee, and now, a fly swallowed by a news anchor on live TV.

The latest incident occured earlier this week as Farah Nasser was anchoring Global National, the flagship national newscast of Canada's Global Television Network. Just as she began presenting a story about flooding in Pakistan, a fly apparently flew in her mouth, causing her to abrubtly stop mid-sentence as she gulped it down.

Nasser later shared the clip on social media "because we all need a laugh these days." Asked whether it was a fruit fly or a house fly, she responded "Regular fly. It was so gross."
