President Trump blasts late-night hosts saying Republicans deserve “Equal Time”—Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers respond

  • Trump devoted two tweets early Saturday morning to the late-night hosts who constantly mock him, saying their “‘unfunny' & repetitive material, always anti-Trump! Should we get Equal Time?” Yet as the president should know, “Equal Time” only applies to political candidates. What Trump seems to be talking about is the Fairness Doctrine, which required broadcasters to present different views on controversial issues. However, the Fairness Doctrine was eliminated in 1987 under the Reagan administration. Within minutes of Trump tweeting, Seth Meyers responded: “We'd love to have you! Studio located at 15 Penguin Avenue, Antarctica.” Kimmel followed a few hours later, saying: “Excellent point Mr. President! You should quit that boring job - I'll let you have my show ALL to yourself #MAGA” Meanwhile, Kimmel also got in a Twitter dispute with Donald Trump Jr. over the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault allegations that ended with the late-night host sending him a link to the notorious Access Hollywood tape (which, coincidentally, was revealed one year ago Saturday).
