President Biden receives a standing ovation at the Kennedy Center Honors after David Letterman joked about Trump not showing up during his presidency

"It is quite nice, very nice, to see the presidential box once again being occupied," Letterman said at the beginning of last night's ceremony. Trump didn't show up during the three Kennedy Center Honors ceremonies that took place during his presidency. (Last year's event was canceled due to the pandemic.) This year's Kennedy Center Honors celebrated SNL creator Lorne Michaels, actress-singer Bette Midler, Motown Records creator Berry Gordy, opera singer Justino Diaz and folk music legend Joni Mitchell. CBS will broadcast the Kennedy Center Honors on Dec. 22.
