Playboy founder Hugh Hefner dies at 91

The iconic adult entertainment pioneer, who died Wednesday of natural causes at his Playboy mansion, was a frequent presence on TV promoting his Playboy brand, hosting the party-like Playboy’s Penthouse from 1959 to 1961 and Playboy After Dark from 1969 to 1970, and starring on the E! reality show The Girls Next Door in the late 2000s. Hefner was roasted on Comedy Central -- by the recently departed Dick Gregory -- made cameos on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and, earlier this year, was the subject of the 10-episode docuseries American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story.
