NBC News correspondent Stephanie Gosk explains her “incredibly strange” job of covering the Matt Lauer firing

Gosk tells Rachel Maddow she’s been trying to cover Lauer’s firing as she covered the firing of Charlie Rose last week. But she adds, “it gets difficult because I’m in this building. And although some of the conversations I’ve have had in this building have been on the record, things that are being shared publicly, very obviously there are also other conversations that I overhear amongst colleagues, things that are being said privately to each other, that are things that typically a reporter might glob onto and want to report. I have to draw those lines just by the very nature of the fact that I’m in this newsroom all day long.” Gosk says she chose not to attend a closed-door NBC News staff meeting because she wouldn’t be able to report its details.
