Mike Tirico officially becomes NBC's Sunday Night Football play-by-play announcer, succeeding Al Michaels

Tirico left ESPN for NBC in 2016 with NBC intending for him to eventually succeed Michaels. That will happen beginning with the 2022 NFL season. Michaels' contract with NBC Sports expired after this year's Super Bowl and he is expected to join Amazon's Thursday Night Football.
