Larry Kramer, AIDS activist whose play The Normal Heart was adapted as an HBO movie, dies at 84

The outspoken AIDS activist, playwright, author and screenwriter died of pneumonia. Kramer died almost exactly six years to day after Ryan Murphy brought his 1985 play on the HIV-AIDS crisis to the small screen as an HBO movie airing Memorial Day Weekend 2014 starring Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Jim Parsons, Alfred Molina, Joe Mantello, Jonathan Groff and Julia Roberts.
