Kelsey Grammer boards Fox legal drama Proven Innocent

The former Frasier star, who's last major TV role was on Amazon's The Last Tycoon, is returning to Fox to play Gore Bellows, which Deadline describes as "a hard-as-nails and tough-on-crime state’s attorney, who goes up against an underdog legal team committed to reopening investigations to exonerate the innocent who were 'proven' guilty." Grammer, who's had a long-running role as Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons, replaces Brian D'Arcy James in a recasting. James may return in a different role. Proven Innocent, co-created by Empire's Danny Strong, is scheduled for a midseason premiere.
