Gregg Araki: Starz's Now Apocalypse didn't have the time or budget for intimacy coordinators

Araki was asked about intimacy coordinators, which has become common on HBO series, because his new Starz series contains numerous sex scenes. Araki said that despite not employing intimacy coordinators, making actors comfortable on set was a top priority. “I’ve done a lot of movies with a lot of sex scenes,” Araki said at the TV press tour on Tuesday. “It’s really important that you create an environment where the actors feel safe, where they feel protected. I always tell them to pull me aside and we can have a private conversation if they feel weird about something.”
