Dr. Pimple Popper considers her show to be art rather than something made for shock value

YouTube-turned-TLC reality star Dr. Sandra Lee, whose new show has averaged two million viewers, has come out this week with her first book, titled Put Your Best Face Forward. “It’s people’s lives,” she says when asked about other dermatologists criticizing her approach as being aimed at shock value. “If you have a cyst, that’s your life and a lot of us have it. I normalize it. People understand that it’s okay, that you’re a normal person with these sorts of things. The show has really made me... what has been so worthwhile about it is that it’s really shown me what kind of effect I can have on people."
