Don Ohlmeyer thought he’d be remembered for putting on an NFL game without an announcers

  • The former NBC executive, who died Sunday at age 72, thought experimenting with an announcer-less game would bring in ratings, but the experiment flopped. “All the stuff I’ve done in my career,” he once told an ESPN interviewer, “and that’s what I’m going to be remembered for. It serves me right.” It turns out none of Ohlmeyer’s major obituaries mentioned the experiment.
