DirecTV to become a standalone company

AT&T has found a solution to DirecTV's subscriber losses. AT&T has reached a deal with TPG Capital to sell a 30% stake in DirecTV, allowing the satellite service provider to become a standalone company. AT&T will own the remaining 70% of the new entity. The deal values DirecTV at $16.25 billion, a far cry from the $48.5 billion AT&T paid in 2015.
