Crock-Pot’s parent company’s stock tanked Thursday, but don’t blame This Is Us

Newell Brand’s stock plummeted 21% Thursday, just one day after Crock-Put had to respond to the public relations controversy over this week’s This Is Us episode. But as The Wrap notes, “While we can’t guarantee the bad P.R. didn’t play at least a small part in Newell’s sinking market cap (simmer down, stockholders) the real reason share prices are tanking today is because Newell plans to explore a sell-off of at least 10 brands. No, Crock-Pot is not among them.” ALSO: Crock-Pot has released a lengthy, technically detailed statement explaining why its product is safe.
