A U.S. senator once won an Emmy award for grilling witnesses in Congressional hearings

With all eyes on Mark Zuckerberg's testimony before Congress, The Washington Post has this factoid: Sen. Estes Kefauver, a Democrat from Tennessee, was so effective in his Senate committee's televised investigation into organized crime in the early 1950s that he was presented with a special achievement Emmy Award for "outstanding public service on television" in 1952.
