As Josh Zyber writes for Primetimer, a month after its launch, HBO Max remains a bungled mess. Today the service launches its second wave of "Max Originals," which is a bit of a misnomer, since each are existing properties whose current or earlier seasons were produced for other WarnerMedia outlets. Still, we'll take a new season of Search Party where we can get it. Also today: Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone returns with some new summer chills, a storm hits the Council of Dads, and Holey Moley and Don't deliver more Thursday night silliness. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this Thursday:

SEASON PREMIERE: After two seasons on TBS, the third season of Search Party is dropping on HBO Max, with Drew (John Reynolds) and Dory (Alia Shawkat) on trial for murder, while Portia (Meredith Hagner) and Elliot (John Early) debate whether or not they should appear as witnesses. Watch the trailer. Streaming on HBO Max

SEASON PREMIERE: DC Universe's Doom Patrol returns for Season 2, with three fresh episodes arriving on both DC Universe and HBO Max. The series follows The Chief (Timothy Dalton) who leads an team of (very familiar) misfit heroes. Watch the trailer. Streaming on HBO Max and DC Universe

SEASON PREMIERE: Much like HBO stepped in four years ago to help rescue Sesame Street, the kids show Esme & Roy, which premiered on PBS in 2019, is moving to HBO Max at the start of its second season, with repeats eventually finding their way to PBS. Watch the trailer. Streaming on HBO Max

SERIES PREMIERE: As Alex Welch writes, Peak TV has landed us knee-deep in a new golden age for the once-dead TV anthology series. To wit, Jordan Peele is back on CBS All Access today as his The Twilight Zone reboot returns for its second season. Watch the trailer. Streaming on CBS All Access

NEW EPISODE: A dangerous storm is approaching on a new episode of Council of Dads, forcing the Perry family to head for safety. Meanwhile, a personal essay falls into the wrong hands. Watch the preview. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

NEW EPISODE: Joe Tessitore, Rob Riggle, and Jeanie Mai welcome new challengers to Holey Moley II: The Sequel, where they'll press their luck against the putt-putt obstacles of Stephen Curry's outrageous course. 8:00 PM ET on ABC

NEW EPISODE: The Ryan Reynolds' game show spectacular returns for a third week of slapstick zaniness as Don't tells kids they must never "parent trap on TV." 9:00 PM ET on ABC

SERIES PREMIERE: Can't get enough DJ Pauly D & Vinny? Apparently you're not alone. The two host MTV's newest reality series Revenge Prank with DJ Pauly D and Vinny, in which the victims of some outrageous pranks turn the tables on their tormenters. Watch a clip. 9:00 PM ET on MTV
