Grace and Frankie co-creator says ending the show was not her decision: "Netflix isn’t doing long-term series anymore"

When Grace and Frankie ends next year with Season 7, it will have the distinction of being Netflix's longest-running original series with 94 total episodes (surpassing Orange Is the New Black's 91 episodes). “It was a combination of things,” Martha Kauffman says of ending the show. “Netflix isn’t doing long-term series anymore. And we are really lucky that we got the seventh season. I think when we started, we imagined seven seasons. But, really, this is the kind of decision that comes from Netflix. But as sad as I am that it’s ending, there’s something that makes sense about it.”
