Chris Hayes spent the bulk of his show Tuesday unloading on Fox News hosts for pushing an anti-vaccine mandate stance when their own network has a vaccine mandate, strict testing guidelines, and mask requirements. In a 10-minute segment, the MSNBC host called out Fox News hosts like Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson for their hypocrisy, and he eviscerated the network for repeatedly putting ratings above human lives. "They are selling this poison because it is profitable for them," said Hayes.
Hayes' Tuesday night segment began with a simple question: "Why would a political movement, in this case the conservative movement in this country, do so much to try to sicken and even kill off its own followers?" The All In host pointed to Fox News' anti-vaccine mandate stance as proof of this, as the network's primetime hosts rail against the Biden administration's new mandate night after night. But Hayes was quick to point out the hypocrisy of the position, saying, "Their own Human Resources department said earlier this month 90% of full-time employees reported they are fully vaccinated after the company, wait for it, mandated everyone to report their vaccination status."
"The issue rates, so that's why they're leaning into it, despite the fact that it might get their own viewers sick or killed," he continued. "They truly do not care — I mean, I don't know what's in their hearts, but their revealed preference, all I can judge is their actions — do not seem to care if the people who watch them get killed as a result."
"There are actual human beings taking their last breaths with a plastic tube down their throat while they say goodbye to their loved ones over an iPad, entire universes of memories and life experience snuffed out forever," concluded Hayes, his voice rising. "But guess what, it's great for ratings."
All In with Chris Hayes airs weeknights at 8:00 PM ET on MSNBC.
