    The CW delivers two buzz-worthy premieres tonight as The Winchesters tells a Supernatural origin story and Brendan Fraser and Tom Welling headline drama series Professionals.

    The Winchesters: Series premiere. 35 years before the events of Supernatural, ex-Marine John Winchester (Drake Rodger) crosses paths with 19-year-old demon hunter Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly), forever altering their lives. The prequel series chronicles John and Mary’s relationship, which develops as they come face-to-face with a paranormal presence hell-bent on destruction. Supernatural star Jensen Ackles narrates and executive produces with his wife, Danneel Ackles. Read more. 8:00 PM ET on The CW

    Professionals: Series premiere. After a next-gen medical-data satellite explodes on launch, elite security operative Vincent Corbo (Tom Welling) is hired by billionaire futurist Peter Swann (Brendan Fraser) and his fiancée, Dr. Grace Davila (Elena Anaya) to investigate. As Corbo’s team looks into the disaster, they discover a conspiracy of Swann’s corporate rivals, corrupt government officials, and a shadowy crime syndicate working to take control of his tech empire.     Iliza Shlesinger: Hot Forever: Comedy special. The comic (and recent Celebrity Jeopardy! winner) riffs on everything from ugly bras to men with box springs in her sixth Netflix special, filmed at the Connor Palace in Cleveland. Streaming on Netflix

    The Oval: Season 4 premiere. The Tyler Perry-created political drama returns for another season of double-dealing. In the premiere, Victoria (Kron Moore) receives disturbing news from the White House doctor about Jason (Daniel Croix Henderson), while Donald (Lodric Collins) learns Grip (Will Adams) is not the indestructible man he thought he was.     FBI: New episode. Special Agent OA (Zeeko Zaki) risks everything when he comes face-to-face with an experienced serial killer. Followed by new episodes of FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted. Watch preview. 8:00 PM ET on CBS

    The Patient: New episode. As a revelation about his relationship with Ezra (Andrew Leeds) leads Dr. Strauss (Steve Carell) back to the urgency of escape, Sam (Domhnall Gleeson) loses faith in his doctor. Streaming on FX on Hulu

    Reboot: New episode. Bree (Judy Greer) pulls Reed (Keegan-Michael Key) into their old game of creating elaborate backstories for eccentric-looking strangers. Elsewhere, Gordon (Paul Reiser) enlists the writers to help Hannah (Rachel Bloom) get together with a woman she likes. Streaming on Hulu

    National Hockey League: The 2022-2023 season gets underway with two nationally-broadcasted games on ESPN:

    • Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Rangers 7:30 PM ET/4:30 PM PT

    The Renovator: Series premiere. Entrepreneur, designer and television personality Marcus Lemonis (The Profit), who has made a career of fixing business chaos, uses his talents to improve families’ lives and homes. 8:00 PM ET on HGTV

    38 at the Garden: Original documentary. HBO commemorates the 10th anniversary of the “Linsanity” craze with this documentary about the extraordinary ascendance of New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin, who shocked the world when he scored 38 points at Madison Square Garden against the Los Angeles Lakers.     The Rookie: Feds: New episode. As Simone’s (Niecy Nash-Betts) love life heats up, Garza’s (Felix Solas) unit gets roped into a complicated kidnapping case involving a forbidden relationship between two rival drug-dealing gangs. Watch preview. 10:00 PM ET on ABC
