The Gilded Age Arrives on HBO, ABC Bows Wine Drama Promised Land

    Television kicks off the week in a big way with the premiere of HBO's new  Julian Fellowes period drama The Gilded Age and ABC’s wine-soaked primetime soap Promised Land. Plus, Ordinary Joe wraps its first season, The CW explores HBCU band culture in March, Snowpiercer adds Archie Panjabi and Chelsea Harris in Season 3, and more. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Monday:

    The Gilded Age: Series premiere. Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes returns to TV with this HBO drama set against the backdrop of 1882 New York City. Christine Baranski headlines a stacked cast as Agnes van Rhijn, a scion of the old money set who is forced to confront the rapidly-modernizing world against her will.     Promised Land: Series premiere. Television's newfound obsession with wine continues with this drama about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley. The soapy drama stars John Ortiz, Cecilia Suárez, Augusto Aguilera, Christina Ochoa, Mariel Molino, and Bellamy Young. Watch trailer. 10:00 PM ET on ABC

    Ordinary Joe: Season 1 finale. As Cop Joe (James Wolk) tries to impress Amy’s (Natalie Martinez) family, Nurse Joe takes an important road trip with Chris (John Gluck), and Music Joe hits rock bottom. Watch preview. 10:00 PM ET on NBC

    March: Docuseries premiere. HBCU marching bands take center stage in this The CW docuseries about the students at Prairie View A&M University and their pressure-filled journey to become the highest ranked HBCU band in the country. The eight-episode series airs Monday nights through February 27, when it moves to Sunday nights. Watch trailer. 8:00 PM ET on The CW

    Snowpiercer: Season 3 premiere. Layton (Daveed Diggs), his inner circle, and a newfound survivor command of a 10-car “pirate train” in search of Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) and a possible warm location to restart civilization. Back on Snowpiercer, Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) is consolidating power, foiled only by secret allies of Layton’s hidden on the train. With series newcomers Archie Panjabi and Chelsea Harris.     American Dad!: Season 17 premiere. Machismo CIA agent Stan Smith and his family return to TBS with an all-new batch of episodes. 10:00 PM ET on TBS

    Three Songs for Benazir: Documentary short. Shaista, a newly married young man living in a camp for displaced persons in Kabul, struggles to balance his dreams of being the first from his tribe to join the Afghan National Army with the responsibilities of starting a family. The 23-minute film was featured on the Documentary Short Subject Oscar shortlist last month, just a few weeks after it was acquired by Netflix. Streaming on Netflix

    The Bachelor: New episode. As Cassidy's rose drama continues, Clayton must decide whether to send her home. Elsewhere, emotions continue to spiral, with Shanae and Elizabeth going for round two. Watch preview. 8:00 PM ET on ABC

    NCIS: Hawai'i: New episode. When the NCIS investigates the mysterious death of a Navy engineer, they learn the last person he met with was his colleague, Maggie Shaw (Julie White), Jane's mentor and friend, who's beeen kidnapped. Tonight's episode serves as Part 1 of a two-part event that will resume in late February, after the Olympics end. Watch preview. 9:00 PM ET on CBS

    Secret of Playboy: Docuseries premiere. A&E uncovers the hidden realities of the Playboy empire in a new docuseries featuring interviews with former Playmates, Hugh Hefner’s colleagues, and company insiders. Two episodes air tonight. Watch preview. 9:00 PM ET on A&E
