Brooklyn Nine-Nine Concludes Its Soul-Searching Final Season

    Arriving amid a national reckoning over policing, Brooklyn Nine-Nine's final season has walked a bit of a tightrope in its attempts to keep the laughs coming while addressing the very serious issues brought to light by the murder of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement. Can the series stick the landing in tonight's one-hour series finale — one that's rumored to see Andy Samberg's Jake Peralta resign from the force?

    Also today: B.J. Novak explores social issues through a comedic lens in his new FX on Hulu anthology The Premise, Paramount+ premieres its new animated comedy The Harper House, and Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol comes to Peacock. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Thursday:

    Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Series finale. After weeks of soul searching, Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), Capt. Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher), Sgt. Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) and the rest of the NYPD’s 99th precinct look to the future in the comedy’s series finale. Two half-hour episodes air back-to-back tonight. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

    The Premise: Series premiere. B.J. Novak recruits Ben Platt, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jermaine Fowler, the late Ed Asner, and more top talent in this anthology series that uses comedy to engage with today’s biggest social issues. The first two episodes, streaming today, center on a social justice sex tape and a grieving father who joins the National Gun Lobby. Read our review. Streaming on FX on Hulu

    The Harper House: Series premiere. Better Call Saul’s Rhea Seehorn leads a host of familiar voices in this new animated comedy about a working mother who moves her eccentric family into a dilapidated Victorian after losing her job.  Watch trailer. Streaming on Paramount+

    Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol: Series premiere. Based on the international bestseller, this Peacock drama follows the early adventures of young Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Ashley Zukerman), who must solve a series of puzzles to save his kidnapped mentor.     Tacoma FD: Season premiere. After being exposed to a potentially infected Capuchin monkey on an emergency call, the gang must quarantine at the station, but not everyone handles it well. Watch trailer. 10:00 PM ET on truTV

    He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Series reboot. When Eternia’s Prince Adam (voiced by Yuri Lowenthal) discovers the power of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe, he must use his newfound abilities to defend his home from the evil forces of Skeletor (Ben Diskin).     Big Brother: New episode. 8:00 PM ET on CBS

    Floribama Shore: Season premiere. The MTV reality series moves to Athens, Georgia for Season 5, which features a very pregnant Nilsa, a pet pig and two goats, and endless drama. Watch preview. 8:00 PM ET on MTV
