Chad Ollinger was taken into custody on December 26, 2025, when LVMPD Corrections Officers inside the Clark County Detention Centre found his cellmate "lying motionless" during routine checks at approximately 11:20 p.m.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), as officers entered the jail cell, they "observed the inmate was suffering from apparent blunt force injuries."

Although the officers "immediately rendered aid to the victim and requested CCDC medical personnel to respond," the inmate was pronounced deceased at the scene.

They later took "the other cellmate who was identified as 41-year-old Chad Ollinger" into custody.

"LVMPD Homicide detectives were notified and responded," the statement added.

Chad is the son of Blind Frog Ranch owner, Duane Ollinger. Despite keeping his personal life largely private, a 2020 report from The Washington Post stated that he is married to his wife, Haley, and has four kids, Lillie, Finn, Hazie and Hutch.

According to the outlet, in 2019, Chad moved with his wife and children to a "decommissioned school bus" after they sold their house and aviation business in Dumas, Texas and began road-schooling them.

"We definitely try to use our surroundings to teach them," said Haley at the time.

Chad Ollinger rebooked for open murder

Citing the possible cause of the victim's death, the aforementioned statement from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) further stated that, through the course of the investigation, detectives discovered that a physical altercation had occurred between the victim and Chad Ollinger inside the cell. As a result of these findings, Ollinger was rebooked for open murder.

"This investigation is ongoing and led by the LVMPD Homicide Section. The identification of the decedent, as well as the cause and manner of death, can be obtained through the Clark County Coroner’s Office," the statement added.

According to TMZ, Chad was previously arrested in November 2024 in Texas. The Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch star was reportedly riding his bike when he ran a stop light in front of an unmarked police vehicle and allegedly refused to stop when they tried to pull him over.

When he eventually stopped, Chad reportedly abandoned his motorcycle and ran from the police on foot.

He was later arrested and faced two charges: evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and evading arrest/detention on foot, according to the outlet.

"All I know is this one thing. It was a hell of a ride until I got off of that Harley crossbone," he told the outlet at the time.

The outlet further noted that he was initially booked into the county jail and later released after posting bond.

Ollinger was again arrested on February 8, 2025, on charges of driving with an invalid license, despite previous convictions, and for speeding at least 10 percent over the limit. He was booked into the Gray County jail, according to The Pampa News.

According to multiple outlets, he had been incarcerated since October.

Chad Ollinger is currently held without bond. Stay tuned for more updates.
