The CW orders a “fierce, funny, feminist” Charmed reboot pilot

Originally planned as a 1970s-set prequel series to The WB witches drama that launched in 1998, the rebooted Charmed pilot will instead be set in the present day. “This fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches,” says The CW. “Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.” A present-day setting, as EW notes, would leave the door open for original Charmed stars Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Rose McGowan to reprise their roles. ALSO: Holly Marie Combs appears to be unhappy with the Charmed reboot.
