Native American tribe's Billions defamation lawsuit dismissed

Cayuga Nation sued Showtime last year for using its name and the name of one of its council members in a May 2019 episode -- rather than come up with a fictitious tribe and council member. A judge ruled that the Cayuga Nation itself could not sue for defamation because the allegedly defamatory material was “directed against a governing body and how it governed, rather than against its individual members.”
