Walking Dead Creator Robert Kirkman Takes On Superheroes With Invincible

  • Check out this new teaser trailer for Invincible, the new animated series based on Robert Kirkman's comic book series, which was revealed at New York Comic-Con yesterday. Why? Well, you saw what he did with The Walking Dead, so imagine what he might do with the superhero genre.

The adult-oriented series focuses on Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), a teenager learning how to control the superpowers given to him by his father, who happens to be Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), the most powerful superhero on the planet. It's a pretty unique father-son relationship where they can play catch by throwing a baseball around the world to each other. But as Mark grows into his abilities, he also learns that his father may not be the hero he seems to be. The series will also feature the voices of Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Sandra Oh, Zachary Quinto, and Mark Hamill.

Kirkman's Invincible comic series debuted around the same time he started The Walking Dead, but it features a very different art style from TWD's spare black-and-white imagery. The full-color whiz-bang aesthetic created by artists Corey Walker and Ryan Ottley is captured well in this teaser, but it's definitely not going to be as kid-friendly as it may seem.

Invincible is set to premiere in 2021 on Amazon Prime.
