WATCH: John Oliver Gives Ex-'Business Daddy' AT&T a Double Middle Finger Salute

  • John Oliver is saying goodbye to former "Business Daddy" AT&T the only way he knows how: with a double middle finger salute. On Sunday night, Oliver reflected on the new WarnerMedia-Discovery merger — as a result of which HBO's Last Week Tonight is no longer owned by AT&T — but he couldn't resist getting in one final jab at his ex-parent company.

Last week, DirecTV, another AT&T-owned company, dropped far-right outlet One America News Network, with one anchor telling viewers, "Come Monday, you will no longer see One America News on a certain satellite provider, which I won't even mention because I don't like uttering their name out of my mouth."

"Just so you know, the provider that he's referring to there is DirecTV," said Oliver. "Which is a subsidiary of a parent company I will not mention because I don't even like uttering their name out of my mouth."

"Interestingly, as of Friday, AT&T officially no longer owns us so it is goodbye from me, Business Daddy. Let me just say this," he continued, throwing up two middle fingers. "Which is frankly two more bars than you have ever had."

Best of luck to Oliver's new Business Daddy, Warner Bros. Discovery!

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver airs Sundays at 11:00 PM ET on HBO.
