Amy Schumer Offers a Behind-the-Scenes POV on The Slap

  • 10 days after the fact, Will Smith's Oscars slap has been discoursed to death, but on Wednesday night, Amy Schumer stopped by Watch What Happens Live to offer a new perspective on the altercation.

Though Schumer was on WWHL to promote her new Hulu show Life & Beth, Cohen couldn't give up a chance to ask her about the generation-defining incident. "I just wonder if you have any thoughts about it — about the standing ovation that Will got when he won the award [for Best Actor]," said the Bravo host. "Did you have any thoughts about that?"

"I'll just say, I was backstage, and I knew I had to go out. I was kind of the only host who was going out solo after that," replied Schumer, who hosted the 94th Oscars alongside Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall. "So it really felt like the Situation Room, you know? Like a comedy. We were all just watching the monitor, and then he won and we were like — everybody was just kind of floored, the whole thing."

"And I was just thinking about how am I gonna — what am I going to do when I go out there?" she continued. "It really changed the air in the room."

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday-Thursday nights on Bravo.
