    It’s the beginning of the end for His Dark Materials. Tonight, HBO’s fantasy drama kicks off its third and final season, which sees the return of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Lee Scorseby, among other major surprises.

    Also today: Taye Diggs invites single women in their 40s to get Back in the Groove, celebrities compete in over-the-top bar games in USA’s Barmageddon, NCIS and The Neighborhood say goodbye for the year, and more. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Monday:

    His Dark Materials: Season 3 premiere. Lyra (Dafne Keen), the prophesied child, and Will (Amir Wilson), the bearer of The Subtle Knife, must journey to a dark place from which no one has ever returned, but as her father’s great war against the Authority edges closer, they learn that saving the world comes at a terrible price. The final season is based on “The Amber Spyglass,” the final novel in Philip Pullman’s trilogy. Two episodes air every Monday night through the December 26 series finale.     Back in the Groove: Series premiere. Taye Diggs hosts this reality dating show about single women in their 40s who set out to find love with men half their age at a beautiful resort in the Dominican Republic. Whether they find the perfect fling, friendship, or true love, this is their chance to take charge and break through the double standards older women face every day.     Barmageddon: Series premiere. Blake Shelton and Carson Daly star in and executive produce this celebrity game show that sees stars show off their skills at various bar games, including Air Cannon Cornhole, Keg Curling, and Sharts (“Shelton Darts”).     The Neighborhood: Season 5 fall finale. Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer) weighs the pros and cons of making a major life change. 8:00 PM ET on CBS

    Bob Hearts Abishola: Season 4 fall finale. Abishola’s (Folake Olowofoyeku) visit to the sock factory during a nurse’s strike puts extra pressure on Bob (Billy Gardell) to make the factory successful. 8:30 PM ET on CBS

    NCIS: Season 20 fall finale. The team investigates the death of a murdered college student connected to McGee’s wife, Delilah (Margo Harshman). Followed by the NCIS: Hawai’i Season 2 fall finale. Watch preview. 9:00 PM ET on CBS

    That’s My Jam: Holiday Edition: Special presentation. It’s a showdown of the Saturday Night Live alums as Fred Armisen and Ana Gasteyer compete against Rachel Dratch and Melissa Villaseñor in games created by Jimmy Fallon and his Tonight Show team. 10:00 PM ET on NBC
