    To those who argue that streaming TV has become too thematically dark, we submit the headliners this mid-August weekend, which include a series adaptation of Penny Marshall's 1992 feel-good baseball drama A League of Their Own, a new original comedy starring Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, and Snoop Dogg, and Season 3 of Mindy Kaling's Never Have I Ever on Netflix.

    Also: Standup comedian Chris Estrada mines his life and his act for Hulu's This Fool, RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race borrows a page from The Masked Singer, and the bar mitzvah comedy 13: The Musical lands on Netflix. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this weekend:

    FRIDAY AUGUST 12

    A League of Their Own: Complete first season. The 1992 movie about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League becomes a TV series (no, not that one). Co-created by Will Graham and Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson (who also stars), this version of the story features characters who represent the true diversity of the AAGPBL, which welcomed Black and queer players in real life.     This Fool: Complete first season. Comedian Chris Estrada plays a 30 year-old still living at home with his family whose life takes a turn after his family takes in his older cousin, an ex-gang member just released from prison.     Five Days at Memorial: Limited series premiere. Doctors and nurses at the ICU at New Orleans' Memorial Medical Center struggle to treat thousands of patients after Hurricane Katrina leaves them stranded without power. Vera Farmiga and Cherry Jones star. Read our review. Streaming on Apple TV+

    Never Have I Ever: Complete third season. Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) learns that dating the boy of her dreams doesn't solve all of her problems. Even worse, it creates new ones. Read our review. Streaming on Netflix

    Children of the Underground. Complete limited series. Faye Yager built a vast underground network that shielded hundreds of mothers and children from abusive husbands and fathers when a broken court system wouldn't, but a highly publicized trail raised the specter of a dark side to the movement.     13: The Musical: Original film. Adapted from the 2007 broadway musical, a clever middle schooler (Eli Golden) is determined to throw the best bar mitzvah ever after his parents' divorce forces him to relocate from New York City to small town Indiana.     RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race: Season 2 premiere. Celebrity Drag Race gets a Masked Singer makeover as nine celebrities undergo a drag transformation, with each aiming to keep their true identity secret until the final Ru-veal. Watch trailer. 8:00 PM ET on VH1

    Lucy’s School: Original special. The Peanuts gang returns in an all-new special that's being billed as "a love letter to teacher.
