Fox Hopes MLB Field of Dreams Game Can Catch Lightning in a Bottle — Again

    Last year’s inaugural Field of Dreams Game between the between the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees was the stuff of legend: perfect weather, a suspenseful game, and a tour-de-force sports production (complete with an appearance from Kevin Costner himself). 

    Fox was rewarded handsomely, earning record ratings and the Sports Emmy for Best Live Production (beating the Olympics and the Super Bowl). To say they set a high bar ahead of tonight’s second edition of the game would be an understatement, but perhaps there’s magic in that there field.

    Also today: The Ms Pat Show returns triumphant, skateboarding icon Leo Baker gets the Netflix documentary treatment, and The CW bows a pair of new imports — one from Australia, and one from Canada. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Thursday:  

    Major League Baseball: The Chicago Cubs take on the Cincinnati Reds at the second annual Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville Iowa. 7:15 PM ET on Fox

    Ms Pat Show: Season 2 premiere. Its first season escaped the notice of most when it premiered on BET+ last year, but Ms Pat’s multicam comedy is making a much higher profile Season 2 return today thanks in part to a surprise Emmy nomination, one of BET’s two first-ever scripted series nominations this year.     Bump: Series premiere. An unplanned pregnancy changes the life of a 17 year-old overachiever in this Aussie import. Two episodes air back-to-back. Watch trailer. 8:00 pm ET on The CW

    Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story: Original documentary. Directors Nicola Marsh and Giovanni Reda follow nonbinary skateboarding hero Leo Baker in the lead up to the 2020 Olympics as they try to make space for themselves in the gendered world of pro sports.     Great Chocolate Showdown: Series premiere. The Canadian cooking competition makes its stateside debut as ten amateur home bakers face-off in a series of chocolate-themed cooking challenges. Watch trailer. 9:00 PM on The CW

    The Captain: Docuseries finale. Derek Jeter buys the Miami Marlins, but his journey is fraught with criticism and unfinished business. 10:00 PM ET on ESPN

    It's CompliPlated: Series premiere. Social media star Tabitha Brown hosts four chefs as they attempt to create dishes for a panel of judges with very particular palates and food requirements. 10:00 PM ET on Food Network 

    The Resort: New episode. Streaming on Peacock

    Trolls: Trollstopia: Complete Seventh Season (series finale). Everyone's favorite animated trolls sing and dance their way through seven new episodes, proving that anything is possible with glitter, hugs, and teamwork. Watch trailer. Streaming on Hulu and Peacock

    Brat Loves Judy: Season 2 finale. Episode title of the day goes to Brat and Judy for "Don't Ovary Act," which sees the couple weighing their conception options after getting a second opinion. 9:00 PM ET on WE tv

    American Horror Stories: New episode. Manny Coto, who's penned each of this season's three episodes thus far, steps aside for a new episode written by Our Lady J (Pose). Streaming on Hulu

    Rap Sh!t: New episode. Streaming on HBO Max

    Good Trouble: New episode. Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) reconsiders her situation-ship with Joaquin (Bryan Craig). 10:00 PM ET on Freeform
