Disney+ Expands the MCU With Ms. Marvel, Adam Sandler's Hustle Hits Netflix

    The Marvel Cinematic Universe introduces its newest superhero today as Ms. Marvel makes her Disney+ debut. The series stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a high school student who must balance everyday life with her emerging superpowers.

    Also today: Adam Sandler plays a down on his luck basketball scout in Netflix’s Hustle, HBO documentary The Janes revisits a time before Roe v. Wade, Netflix examines the rise of cult leader Warren Jeffs in a new docuseries, and more. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Wednesday:

    Ms. Marvel: Series premiere. Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City, is a Captain Marvel mega fan, but when she suddenly develops powers of her own, she must balance high school life, family, and new responsibilities as a hero. New episodes of the teen-centric Marvel series drop every Wednesday through July 13. Watch trailer. Streaming on Disney+

    Hustle: Original film. After discovering a once-in-a-lifetime player with a rocky past abroad, a down on his luck basketball scout (Adam Sandler) takes it upon himself to bring the phenom to the States without his team’s approval. Against the odds, they have one final shoot to prove they have what it takes to make it in the NBA. Also stars Spanish basketball player Juancho Henangómez, Queen Latifah, and Robert Duvall.     The Janes: Original documentary. HBO charts the story of a group of women who started an underground abortion collective in the 1960s in this timely documentary directed by Tia Lessin and Emma Pildes. Many of the women involved in the group speak on the record for the first time about their experience as unlikely outlaws in pre-Roe v. Wade America. Watch trailer. 9:00 PM ET on HBO

    Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey: Complete docuseries. Emmy-winning filmmaker Rachel Dretzin take viewers inside the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, known as FLDS, and the rise of self-prophesized prophet Warren Jeffs in this four-part series.     Hungry for Answers: Complete Season 1.
