Jessica Biel Transforms Into Candy, American Song Contest Crowns a Winner

    Jessica Biel becomes the latest star to transform into a real-life figure today in Candy, Hulu's new docudrama about Texas housewife Candy Montgomery, who was accused of brutally murdering her best friend in the 1980s. Hulu will be rolling out new episodes of the limited series daily leading up to the finale on Friday, May 13.

    Also today: American Song Contest crowns its inaugural winner, Breeders returns for Season 3, and Sesame Street favorites get animated in a new Cartoon Network series. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Monday:

    Candy: Limited series premiere. Candy Montgomery (Jessica Biel) seems like the perfect suburban housewife, but when she’s accused of murdering her friend Betty Gore (Melanie Lynskey) and having an affair with Gore’s husband (Pablo Schrieber), her carefully-crafted life is turned upside-down. The five-part drama, which also stars Timothy Simons and Raúl Esparza, will roll out new episodes daily through this Friday. Read our review. Streaming on Hulu

    American Song Contest: Season finale. The remaining ten acts have one last chance to perform their original song in the live two-hour finale. Which state or territory will reign supreme? 8:00 PM ET on NBC

    Breeders: Season 3 premiere. As Paul (Martin Freeman) comes to terms with his teenage son Luke (Alex Eastwood) punching him, Ally (Daisy Haggard) struggles with work, early menopause, and her increasingly strained relationship with adolescent daugther, Ava (Eve Prenelle). Two episodes air back-to-back tonight. Watch trailer. 10:00 PM ET on FX

    Sesame Street Mecha Builders: Series premiere. Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby are reimagined as robot heroes in training who use their STEM superpowers to solve larger-than-life problems in this animated series aimed at older preschoolers. The first five episodes air today on Cartoonito before streaming on HBO Max tomorrow. Watch trailer. Marathon begins at 8:00 AM ET on Cartoon Network

    9-1-1: New episode. After a mysterious death, Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) put their lives in danger when they suspect that someone is playing God to make themselves look like a hero. Followed by a new episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star. Watch preview. 8:00 PM ET on FOX

    Better Call Saul: New episode. While business booms for Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk), the vise tightens on the cat-and-mouse game between Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) and Lalo (Tony Dalton). Watch preview. 9:00 PM ET on AMC

    Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Sustainable War: Original film. Ahead of the Season 2 premiere on May 23, Japanese filmmaker Michihito Fujii refashions the anime’s first season into a feature-length film featuring new scenes and a full re-color grading of all shots.     We Own This City: New episode. Despite growing complaints, Hersl (Josh Charles) is placed on the GTTF. Meanwhile, Jensen (Dagmara Dominczyk) monitors Gondo’s (McKinley Belcher III) calls, and Steele (Wunmi Mosaku) speaks with BPD’s new police commissioner, who admits to his precarious position. 9:00 PM ET on HBO

    New Amsterdam: New episode (special night). As Max (Ryan Eggold) discovers a fatal flaw in Dr. Fuentes’ (Michelle Forbes) scheme to purchase the UMI medical clinic, Bloom (Janet Montgomery) treats two high school students for life-threatening injuries and uncovers a dangerous situation. The medical drama will air again tomorrow night in its usual timeslot. 10:00 PM ET on NBC

    Gentleman Jack: New episode. After launching a charm offensive in hopes of winning over Ann’s (Sophie Rundle) relatives, Lister (Suranne Jones) quizzes Halifax’s men of industry on what a new railway station could mean for the town. 10:00 PM ET on HBO

    NBA Playoffs: The playoffs continue with two Game 4 matchups on TNT:

    • Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks 7:30 PM ET/4:30 PM PT
