HBO Max Bows Michael Mann's Tokyo Vice, Elon Musk and SpaceX Return to Space

    After a seven-year hiatus, acclaimed director Michael Mann returns to the screen today with Tokyo Vice, HBO Max’s adaptation of Jake Adelstein’s 2009 nonfiction book of the same name. The crime drama stars Ansel Elgort as Adelstein, an American journalist who explores Tokyo’s underbelly in the late 1990s.

    Also today: Netflix charts Elon Musk and SpaceX’s effort to Return to Space, Discovery+ tries out the Below Deck formula on land in Serving the Hamptons, Close Enough returns for Season 3, and more. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Thursday:

    Tokyo Vice: Series premiere. Ansel Elgort stars in Michael Mann's slow-moving adaptation of Jake Adelstein’s first-hand account of his time on the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat, where nothing is what it seems.     Return to Space: Original documentary. Oscar-winning filmmakers Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (Free Solo) follow Elon Musk and SpaceX’s 20-year journey to send NASA astronauts back to the International Space Station and revolutionize space travel. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

    Serving the Hamptons: Complete Season 1. TV's love affair with The Hamptons continues in this new reality series centered around the young, sexy restaurant staff at Southampton’s 75 Main Restaurant. Watch trailer. Streaming on Discovery+

    Close Enough: Complete third season. J.G. Quintel’s surreal comedy returns to HBO Max for another season of hijinks on the east side of Los Angeles. All eight episodes stream today before airing on TBS later this spring. Watch trailer. Streaming on HBO Max

    The Dropout: Limited series finale. In the wake of the Wall Street Journal article, Elizabeth (Amanda Seyfried) and Sunny (Naveen Andrews) face a reckoning. Watch preview. Streaming on Hulu

    Senzo: Murder of a Soccer Star: Complete docuseires. Netflix dives into the evidence surrounding the 2014 murder of South African soccer player Senzo Meyiwa in its latest true crime docuseries. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

    Law & Order: New episode. As Bernard (Anthony Anderson) and Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan) investigate the murder of a congressional candidate, ADAs Price (Hugh Dancy) and Maroun (Odelya Halevi) contend with an extremist plot hellbent on thwarting the candidate’s agenda by any means necessary. Followed by new episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Organized Crime. Watch preview. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

    Grey’s Anatomy: New episode. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) is on edge when an accreditation council stops by Grey Sloan to review the residency program, while Richard (James Pickens Jr.) sets an assessment of his own for the same day.
