Better Things Begins Its Final Season, The Good Doctor Makes an Early Comeback

    It’s the beginning of the end for Pamela Adlon’s acclaimed comedy Better Things, which kicks off its final season tonight on FX. Also today: The Good Doctor returns from hiatus earlier than planned, The Bachelor's Clayton Echard meets his potential in-laws in this season's Hometowns, HBO continues its Elena Ferrante quadrilogy with My Brilliant Friend Season 3, and more. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Monday:

    Better Things: Season 5 premiere. As each of the Fox women find themselves on the precipice of a newphase in their lives, they’re inspired to reevaluate themselves, learn from the past, and find their own direction. Creator and star Pamela Adlon directs all 10 episodes of the comedy’s final season. Watch trailer. Two episodes air back-to-back, beginning at 10:00 PM ET on FX

    The Good Doctor: Season 5 winter premiere. Now that ABC has unceremoniously yanked mid-season drama Promised Land from its schedule, The Good Doctor is back more than a month earlier than originally planned.In tonight's return, Shaun (Freddie Highmore) is  forced to confront his relationship with Lea (Paige Spara), and determine what she really means to him..     The Bachelor: New episode. It’s time for Hometowns, which means that Clayton will meet the families of his final four women — but will they approve of him? Watch preview. 8:00 PM ET on ABC

    My Brilliant Friend: Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay: Season 3 premiere. HBO continues the story of Lila (Gaia Gerace), who left her husband and is now working in a factory, and Elena (Margherita Mazzucco), who enters a world of affluence after publishing a successful novel.     Ragdoll: Cable premiere. When six people are murdered, dismembered, and sewn together into the shape of one grotesque body, three detectives (Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Thalissa Teixeira, and Lucy Hale) set out to find the killer before he strikes again. New episodes of the crime drama, which originally streamed on AMC+ in the fall, will air every Monday. Read our review. 10:00 PM ET on AMC

    Business Proposal: Complete first season. A woman attends a blind date disguised as her friend with the goal of never seeing the man again, but when she realizes her date is the CEO of her company and dead-set on marriage, ghosting is no longer an option.     America’s Got Talent: Extreme: New episode. The auditions continue as a variety of contestants showcase their jaw-dropping acts. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

    The Gilded Age: New episode. Bertha (Carrie Coon) goes all in to impress Mr. McAllister (Nathan Lane), enlisting the help of Bannister (Simon Jones), who rubs Church (Jack Gilpin) the wrong way. Meanwhile, George (Morgan Spector) fights to protect his public image, while Agnes (Christine Baranski) finds her status quo disrupted. Watch preview. 9:00 PM ET on HBO

    The Endgame: New episode. A kidnapping orchestrated by Elena (Morena Baccarin) puts Val (Ryan Michelle Bathé) to the test as her past resurfaces and becomes a part of the bigger play. Meanwhile, the FBI Task Force contends with an unexpected turn of events in one of the banks. Watch preview. 10:00 PM ET on NBC

    NBA Basketball: The Milwaukee Bucks host the Charlotte Hornets in prime time. 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT on NBA TV
