Roku Revives Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, NBC Lights Up Rockefeller Center

    Roku made headlines last summer when it announced it would revive the canceled NBC series Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist for a two-hour holiday movie. Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, which reunites the Emmy winning musical dramedy's cast, premieres today on The Roku Channel, and there could be more Zoey on the way.

    Also today, NBC broadcasts the 89th annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting, Lost in Space returns for its third and final season on Netflix, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia becomes the longest-running live-action comedy in TV history, and look who's back as The Real Housewives of Orange County kicks off its sixteenth season. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Wednesday:

    Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas: TV movie. Roku revives the canceled NBC series for a holiday-themed movie about Zoey’s (Jane Levy) attempts to create a magical Christmas for her family on her first holiday without her father. Original cast members Mary Steenburgen, Skylar Astin, Clarence Stewart, Peter Gallagher also return. Watch trailer. Streaming on The Roku Channel

    89th Annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center: Special presentation. NBC kicks off the holiday season with the lighting of this year's 79-foot Norway spruce in Rockefeller Center. The two-hour live special is set to feature performances from Carrie Underwood, Alessia Cara, Harry Connick Jr., Brad Paisley, and the Radio City Rockettes. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

    Lost in Space: Complete third season (series finale). After a year of being trapped on a mysterious planet, the Robinson family leads the 97 young Colonists in a harrowing evacuation, but first they'll need to face down their greatest alien threat yet. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

    It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season premiere. The FXX comedy reflects on the pandemic and a tumultuous 2020 in its record-breaking fifteenth season. Two episodes air back-to-back Wednesdays through December 22. Watch trailer. 10:00 PM ET on FXX and Streaming Next-Day on Hulu

    The Real Housewives of Orange County: Season premiere. Heather Dubrow returns to RHOC after five years away from the franchise. Season 16 also introduces new Housewives Dr. Jen Armstrong and Noella Bergener, alongsode returning wives Shannon Storms Beador, Gina Kirschenheiter, and Emily Simpson.     The Power of the Dog: Original film. Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, and Jesse Plemons star in Jane Campion’s western about wealthy ranch owner brothers whose relationship is forever changed when one of them marries a widowed inn owner. The critically-acclaimed drama is a focal point of Netflix’s 2022 Oscars campaign and just may push the streamer to its first-ever Best Picture win. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

    Candified: Home For the Holidays: Complete first season. Candy Queen Jackie Sorkin and her team of candy artists design, melt, and shape hundreds of thousands of sweet pieces to build a fully-furnished, life size holiday candy house in this four-episode series. Watch trailer. Streaming on Hulu

    Home Alone: Freeform kicks off its annual 25 Days of Christmas event with one of many re-airings of the Macaulay Culkin classic and its 1992 sequel. 5:50 PM ET on Freeform

    The Masked Singer: The final two singers from Group A perform solo, and then with celebrity duet partners Jesse McCartney and Michael Bolton in the Group A finale. 8:00 PM ET on FOX

    Adrienne: Original documentary. Adrienne Shelly’s husband Andy Ostroy celebrates the life and work of the late actor, filmmaker, wife, and mother in this intimate documentary that combines home video, archival footage, and interviews from those who knew her best, including Paul Rudd, Keri Russell, and Hal Hartley.     Kelly Clarkson Presents: When Christmas Comes Around: Special presentation. The popular singer-turned-television-personality headlines this new holiday special featuring musical performances and appearances from Melissa McCarthy, Ariana Grande, Brett Eldredge, and Jay Leno. The hour-long special coincides with the release of Clarkson’s new holiday album of the same name. 10:00 PM ET on NBC
