    Horror stories abound on television today, as Hulu’s Dopesick explores how one pharmaceutical companies triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history, The Sinner’s Bill Pullman tackles a new murder mystery, and Disney+ bows a new kid-friendly horror anthology inspired by the writings of R.L. Stine.

    Also today: Meghan Trainor and Adam Lambert step behind the judges’ table in E!’s Clash of the Cover Bands, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman kick off new seasons on The CW, and Netflix crowns a Baking Impossible champion. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Wednesday:

    Dopesick: Series premiere. The origin story of America’s struggle with opioid addiction gets the limited series treatment in this adaptation of Beth Macy’s bestselling book. The show's all-star cast is led by Michael Keaton as a Virginia doctor who freely prescribes OxyContin, while Peter Sarsgaard plays the U.S. Attorney prosecuting Purdue Pharma and its billionaire president, Richard Sackler (Michael Stuhlbarg).     The Sinner: Season premiere. The now-retired Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) travels to a remote island in Maine for a getaway with his partner, Sonya (Jessica Hecht), but when an unexpected tragedy occurs, Ambrose is recruited to help the investigation, only to be thrown into a new mystery that threatens to turn his life upside down.     Just Beyond: Complete first season. Disney+ takes inspiration from the works of R.L. Stine in this eight-episode horror anthology that brings viewers into a supernatural world of witches, aliens, ghosts, and parallel universes. Watch trailer. Streaming on Disney+

    Clash of the Cover Bands: Series premiere. Stephen “tWitch” Boss hosts E!’s new competition that pits cover bands against one another for a chance to win $25,000 and an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. With judges Meghan Trainor, Adam Lambert, and Esther Dean. Watch trailer. 9:30 PM ET on E!

    DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Season premiere. After defeating the aliens and saving Earth, the Legends find themselves stranded in 1925 Odessa, Texas with a destroyed Waverider, but when Astra (Olivia Swann) tries to use her powers, it only creates unwanted attention from the town and new FBI director J.     Twenties: Season premiere. Hattie (Jonica T. Gibbs) and her two best friends Marie (Christina Elmore) and Nia (Gabrielle Graham) return to BET for more adventures in life and love. Immediately followed by the debut of the new weekly Twenties After-show with B. Scott.  10:00 PM ET on BET

    Chicago Med: Charles (Oliver Platt) helps Dylan (Guy Lockard) with a longtime patient who was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia. Followed by new episodes of Chicago Fire and P.D. Watch preview. 8:00 PM ET on CBS
