Brooklyn Nine-Nine Reflects on a Difficult Year as It Begins Final Season

    Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher), and their colleagues in the NYPD’s 99th Precinct are set to do some soul searching as Brooklyn Nine-Nine embarks on its eighth and final season. The cop comedy returns to NBC tonight after a lengthy hiatus, during which multiple episodes were re-written to better address George Floyd’s murder and the reevaluation of policing in America.

    Also today: FBoy Island, Walker and Gossip Girl bid farewell for the summer, Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2 continues expanding the Star Trek universe, and former partners face the music in the new Andy Cohen-hosted Peacock series Ex Rated. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Thursday:

    Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Season premiere. As Amy (Melissa Fumero) returns from maternity leave, Jake (Andy Samberg) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) work a difficult case. Later, the squad finally takes up Holt (Andre Braugher) on his offer for a weekend getaway. Two episodes will air back-to-back Thursday nights through mid-September. Watch trailer. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

    FBoy Island: Season finale. Nakia, Sarah, and CJ choose their post-island companions as the final four episodes of the dating competition series drop. Streaming on HBO Max

    Gossip Girl: Summer finale. When Obie’s (Eli Brown) mom comes to town, Zoya (Whitney Peak) begins to question her true nature. Elsewhere on the Upper East Side, Julien (Jordan Alexander) decides to take her brand to the next level, and Aki (Evan Mock) and Max (Thomas Doherty) support Audrey (Emily Alyn Lind) through a difficult time.     Star Trek: Lower Decks: Season premiere. The support crew aboard the U.S.S. Cerritos, one of the Starfleet’s least important ships, continue to battle a variety of sci-fi anomalies when the Star Trek animated series returns for its second season. Watch trailer. Streaming on Paramount+

    Ex-Rated: Complete first season. Andy Cohen hosts Peacock’s new social experiment that asks adult singles to face raw, candid feedback about their personalities, sexual prowess, and relationship skills. Watch trailer. Streaming on Peacock

    MLB at Field of Dreams: Special presentation. The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox travel to Dyersville, Iowa for a special game that brings the 1989 Oscar nominated film Field of Dreams to life. 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM PT on FOX

    Homeroom: Original documentary. The students of Oakland High School’s class of 2020 confront an unprecedented year of pandemic stress and call for systemic change in this Sundance documentary. Produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. Watch trailer. Streaming on Hulu

    Titans: Season premiere. In Season 3 of the HBO Max drama, DC Universe’s young heroes are drawn to Gotham City, where they will reunite with old friends and face new existential threats.     The Hype: Series premiere. Streetwear takes center stage in this star-studded reality show that asks 10 designers to compete in difficult challenges in hopes of winning a major prize. Complex’s Speedy Morman hosts alongside judges Offset, Bephie Birkett (Bephies Beauty Supply founder and creative director), and stylist and costume designer Marni Senofonte.     Big Brother: Derek X made the biggest move of the season on Wednesday night's episode when he nominated Christian for eviction. But there's a lot of scrambling between that and tonight's eviction vote. Will the house take the opportunity to get rid of the guy who's been dominating all the competitions? Also, Julie Chen Moonves promised to reveal a new twist in the game that would involve America's participation. 8:00 PM ET on CBS
