Disney+ Aims to Make Wednesday the New Friday With Marvel's Loki

With Fridays getting ever more crowded with new streaming releases, Disney+ is shifting to the Wednesday drop with its latest tent-pole series. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Loki tracks Tom Hiddleston’s Norse god as he attempts to escape the alternate timeline he created in the 2019 Marvel film.

Also today: Queen of the South ends its five-season run on USA, Gina Rodriguez prepares for action in Netflix’s sci-fi thriller Awake, and country music’s biggest stars gather for the 2021 CMT Music Awards. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this Wednesday:

SERIES PREMIERES

Loki: After stealing the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) must fix the broken timeline and stop a greater threat, or he’ll be erased from existence altogether for being a “time variant.” In addition to Hiddleston, the new Marvel series stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E.
