HBO Brings Acclaimed Swedish Drama Beartown Stateside

    Monday nights are fast becoming international TV night on HBO between the Danish true crime drama The Investigation, the Spanish horror series 30 Coins (which wrapped its run last week), and tonight's premiere of Swedish drama Beartown. Based on Fredrik Backman's bestselling novel of the same name, the new five-episode series centers around a remote winter town where youth hockey is the last beacon of hope until a horrific event occurs in the run-up to a pivotal game.

    Also today: It's hometown dates time on The Bachelor, 9-1-1 deals with a string of especially crazy disasters, and PBS looks back a groundbreaking TV variety series and its reluctant host. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this Monday:

    SERIES PREMIERE: Shocking accusations against the star player of a junior ice hockey team shake a close-knit community to its core in Beartown. The Swedish-language miniseries airs in five parts. Watch trailer. 9:00 PM ET on HBO

    NEW EPISODE: Leave it to the The Bachelor to stir up trouble on hometown dates week, with previews suggesting that an unexpected visit will have Matt near his breaking point. Watch preview. 8:00 PM ET on ABC

    NEW EPISODE: The 118 believes their fabled firehouse superstition has come true when they face a never-ending series of bizarre emergency calls on 9-1-1. Meanwhile, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) feels a spark with Christopher's (Gavin McHugh's) former teacher, but admits to Bobby (Peter Krause) he may not be ready to move on in his personal life.     DOCUMENTARY: For five years beginning in 1968, Ellis Haizlip hosted SOUL!, America's first Black variety show. Mr SOUL! looks back at the groundbreaking PBS show and the life and contributions of its late host. Watch the trailer. 10:00 PM ET on PBS

    NEW EPISODE: Emily (Jessica Camacho) and Sam (Audrey Corsa) face off in the courtroom in a case that will determine the fate of a mentally ill young man on All Rise. Also, Rachel (Ryan Michelle Bathe) crashes with Mark (Wilson Bethel) and Amy (Lindsey Gort ). 9:00 PM ET on CBS

    NEW EPISODE: Layton (Daveed Diggs) and Miss Audrey (Lena Hall) make a risky play on Snowpiercer. Meanwhile, Wilford (Sean Bean) has plans of his own. Watch preview. 9:00 PM ET on TNT

    NEW EPISODE: Jens Møller (Søren Malling) gets assistance with The Investigation as Swedish cadaver dogs are brought in. Though the dogs mark the area accurately, the divers don't find anything until an oceanographer offers new insight. 10:00 PM ET on HBO
