HBO's Fake Famous Takes an Unfiltered Look at the World of Social Influencers

    What happens when an actress, a fashion designer and a real estate assistant attempt to become social media influencers by purchasing fake followers and bots to boost their popularity? That's the set-up of the new HBO documentary Fake Famous, which looks at the world of wannabe influencers and the perils & pitfalls of social media fame.

    DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE: Can social media fame be bought? Billed as a social media experiment, the filmmakers behind Fake Famous use all the tricks of the trade to goose the online influence of three aspiring influencers, and document the results.
